To Learn About The Latest Agricultural Innovations And Technologies A Delegation From Ajbwc Visits "Icba"

A delegation from the Ajman Business Women Council (AJBWC), headed by Dr. Amna Khalifa Al Ali, Chairwoman of the AJBWC, visited the headquarters of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), to learn about the latest agricultural innovations and technologies and to find out about the ICBA’s initiatives and projects in the field of modern halophytic agriculture. This visit comes within the framework of the Year of Sustainability 2024. The AJBWC delegation received Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi, Director General of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA). This delegation included board members and employees of the AJBWC, and a group of Bedayat license holders and businesswomen. This visit included an inspection tour to view ICBA projects, the latest agricultural innovations and research, learn about soil types, modern irrigation mechanisms, and other agricultural technologies available at the permanent exhibition at the ICBA’s headquarters, in addition to learning about improved crop types that are suitable for climatic conditions and soil quality. The AJBWC delegation also participated in an intensive workshop in the “Halophytic Kitchen Lab,” which is concerned with using locally grown salt crops in food, where the participants learned about the arts of cooking by professional chefs and how to prepare healthy recipes for salt crop products. Dr. Amna Khalifa thanked the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) for the good reception, and praised the ICBA’s efforts in developing halophytic agriculture, increasing crop productivity, and overcoming the challenges of local agriculture in terms of soil quality and water abundance, which achieves the UAE’s directions in sustaining agriculture and achieving food and water security. She said, “The successive developments and achievements achieved by the ICBA will have a direct impact on the “Plant and Reap” initiative implemented by the AJBWC, which aims to encourage female members of the AJBWC to move towards home agriculture and exploit home spaces to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural produce crops in particular and investment in agricultural projects in general, in addition to the “Agricultural Entrepreneurship” initiative proposed by the AJBWC in its strategic plan for the year 2024 Dr. Khalifa discussed opportunities for cooperation with the ICBA on organizing a specialized agricultural forum and a group of workshops supporting the “Agricultural Entrepreneurship” initiative. For her part, Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi explained that the ICBA is linked to a strategic partnership with the AJBWC, stressing that the ICBA is keen to guide and provide consultations to businesswomen in the field of halophytic agriculture and modern agricultural techniques, especially in light of the competencies that the ICBA includes under its umbrella of scholars, experts and professionals with specializations and experience
