The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) organized the "UAE-Estonian Business Forum", with a view to opening wider horizons for cooperation, partnership, and exchanging experiences between the two countries, increasing the volume of trade, creating a platform to enhance cooperation between business owners, and highlighting the most prominent investment opportunities and economic potentials in both countries. The Forum comes as a part of the efforts of the ACCI to enhance its economic cooperation with the countries participating in the "Expo 2020 - Dubai" and to open direct channels of communication between business owners in Ajman and their counterparts in other countries. The Forum, held at the Fairmont Ajman Hotel, was attended by H.E. Salem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the ACCI, H.E. Abdulla Ahmed Al Hemrani, Director-General of the Department of Economic Development in Ajman, Ali Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Ajman Free Zone, Mohamed Ali Al Janahi, Executive Director of the Trade Development and International Relations Sector of the ACCI, and a number of officials of the government authorities in Ajman, including Ajman DED, Ajman Department of Tourism Development, Ajman Free Zone, and Ajman Media City Free Zone, as well as a group of business owners and traders. The Estonian Delegation was headed by H.E. Erki Savisaar, Minister of Environment in Republic of Estonia, H.E. Jaan Reinhold, Ambassador of Estonia to UAE, and a number of Estonian government officials and business owners. At the beginning of the Forum, H.E. Salem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the ACCI, welcomed the honorable attendees, and stressed the importance of the “UAE-Estonian Business Forum” through highlighting of the most important and prominent economic potentials and investment opportunities in both countries, in the presence of officials of government authorities concerned with economic affairs to introduce the sectors of “industry, trade, tourism, real estate, construction, health, education, etc.”, under of the strong and solid relations between the UAE and the Republic of Estonia. He pointed to the need to intensify mutual cooperation and increase benefit from the economic diversity of both countries, as the total foreign trade between the UAE and Estonia is about AED 300 million. "The emirate of Ajman, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, and H.E. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, has an economic environment that supports business growth and the expansion of facilities. Moreover, Ajman is keen to strengthen its external partnerships in general and provide all possible facilitation and benefits for businesspersons and investors from Estonia who wish to invest in Ajman.", He added. H.E. Salem Al Suwaidi explained that the emirate of Ajman seeks to create an economic environment that attracts and stimulates the growth and sustainability of the businesses, and keeps pace with the aspirations of business owners and investors, to diversify the advantages and characteristics of the Ajman economy, including free zones, seaport, a network of roads and transportation means, integrated infrastructure, and distinguished strategic location, in addition to a competitive legislative and service environment supported by cooperation all government authorities concerned with economic affairs. H.E. Erki Savisaar, Minister of Environment in Republic of Estonia, presented the most prominent potentials and competitive advantages of the Estonian economy and diversification of its economic sectors. This enhances opportunities for mutual cooperation and partnership between the two countries and contributes to the exchange of experiences at the governmental and private levels. The presentation also included the Estonian efforts in offering facilities and providing a legislative environment that motivates and encourages business owners and investors. For his part, H.E. Jaan Reinhold, Ambassador of Estonia to UAE, praised the deep-rooted and strong relations between the UAE and Estonia, and stressed the importance of this Forum in opening new channels for direct cooperation; intensifying direct meetings between business owners and traders from the two countries; holding economic events and activities to closely learn about investment opportunities in both Ajman and Estonia; and targeting areas of mutual cooperation, including IT, education, and health. The ACCI provided an overview on the economic potentials of Ajman, including it distinguished location and integrated legislative and service environment that enables business owners to develop and grow their businesses. The overview indicated that Ajman includes more than 38,500 establishments during 2021. The contribution of the industrial sector amounted to more than 19%, the building and construction sector by more than 19%, the wholesale and retail sector by more than 17%, and the real estate sector by nearly 12% of the GDP of 2021. The presentation also referred that Ajman is keen to directly develop the industry, education and tourism sectors. The Ajman Free Zone introduced the competitive advantages made available for investors, as it includes more than 9,000 establishments from various sectors. It also reviewed the efforts made to ensure ease of doing business, and the keenness of the Ajman Free Zone to provide a business environment characterized by flexibility and speedy completion of transactions. The Ajman Department of Tourism Development gave a presentation on the development of the tourism sector in Ajman, especially during the recent years, with the support and follow-up of the wise leadership, and the efforts of the Department to highlight the tourist attractions in Ajman, and develop strategic plans to promote tourism locally, regionally and internationally. The presentation addressed the diversity of the tourism sector in the Emirate, including "culture, art, heritage, entertainment, shopping, sports, adventure, ecotourism, business tourism, and medical tourism”. It also gave an overview of the areas of “Masfout, Manama, and Al Zorah” and their tourism potentials. The Estonian delegation make a presentation on the IT and the recycling areas, the available investment opportunities, and the importance of mutual cooperation and exchange of experiences in the IT and the recycling areas. The Forum included a session for acquaintance, communication, exchange of ideas and experiences, and discussion of opportunities for establishing cooperation and forming partnerships between private sector establishments from both parties, as well as the possibility of concluding potential deals, and a review of the most prominent investment opportunities of both countries.
