Commercial Mediation Service Witnessed 39 Cases During The First Half Of This Year

Ahmed Khalifa Al Muwaiji, Director of Legal Services at ACCI of Commerce and Industry, confirmed that the Chamber is keen to provide a variety of legal services that support the continuity and growth of business and create a stimulating economic environment characterized by a diversity of services and legal activities. These activities support the protection of rights and duties and the promotion of legal culture, in order to achieve the ACCI’s objectives aimed at enhancing the sustainability and growth of the business community. He stated that the Commercial Mediation Service comes at the top of the legal services provided by the Ajman Chamber to the business community, as the first half of the current year (1H 2022) witnessed 39 cases, 21 cases of which were resolved, 11 cases are in progress, and 7 cases were closed, adding that the Commercial Mediation Service provides a legal channel to resolve commercial disputes by means of flexible, fair and friendly ways that satisfy the parties to the dispute and work to maintain their commercial relations. Ahmed Al Muwaiji indicated that the ACCI provides a legal advice service to its member establishments, which aims at educating its members with information about local and federal commercial laws and regulations related to commercial activities. The ACCI also seeks to develop its legal services and introduce proactive services that keep pace with the developments of the economic environment and the aspirations of business owners. He added, "ACCI is organizing, within its annual plan to spread awareness and legal culture, a series of legal seminars in cooperation with its partners from local and federal authorities and entities concerned with legal affairs. During H1 2022, the ACCI organized, in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, two legal seminars, titled "Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 and its executive regulation", the first one included "Permits and Forms of Employment Contracts – Wages Protection System", while the second one included "organizing labor inspection procedures - grievance committee - facilities within the third category and high-risk facilities - granting quotas for online work permits to facilities - labor protection rights". Al Muwaiji stressed that the ACCI is keen to diversify its legal activities, including seminars, workshops, and specialized legal courses, in cooperation with its strategic partners from government and private entities to ensure increased awareness of laws and legislation, which supports increased investments and business sustainability and growth.
